Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

People don’t come preassembled, but are glued together by life. –Joseph LeDoux

It's been busy and I wish I had more Addison's content for you. Mostly I have pictures.

I decided to try once again to complete a 100 mile race. I've been following a training program that I found online, I've actually been following it this time! Part of the training is to do a back to back 50 mile and 25 mile run. Luckily there's a local race that will accommodate this training.

September 5th, I'll do Grand Teton Races 50. September 6th, I'll do the trail marathon and hopefully, I'll be able to walk on Monday, September 7th! The 100 miler I'm doing is The Bear 100 on September 25th and September 26th.

My training has been full of wonderful, long beautiful runs through the Teton backcountry. The small zip loc bags of salt tablets and hydrocortisone are working well for keeping my energy consistent. I put about 600 mg of salt and 5 mg HC in a ziploc and take one every hour on the hour.

Below are some pictures from my adventures that are completely out of order, enjoy anyway.

Great sign at Phillips Trailhead

Moose Creek Drainage from near Phillips Pass

Fall colors

No way around this mess, got my feet wet and muddy entirely too early for my taste!

A pretty drainage on the way to Cole Canyon/Mesquite divide

Taylor Mountain

A mountain before Taylor above 10,000 feet in elevation

This is where I lost the trail and had to bushwhack. Look, snow.

Amazing mushrooms near Fogg Hill. I don't like to take pictures of mushrooms generally (my mother adores taking pictures of them) but these were so unusual for late August in the Tetons that I couldn't resist.

A beautiful veiw from Aspen Trail

Dolly loves to run on Aspen Trail.

Dusty loves to run on Aspen Trail too.

This is what your shoes can look like after bushwhacking through vegetation. This time of year a lot of the crap that gets stuck in shoes is prickly and hurts.
